When Dougie was a young lad, his personality was always described as quiet, a little shy. He always called himself "a loser" because of this. However, this changed over the years. Now he just seems more quirky, more confident. Fame, in its highest form has changed him into a young man with amazing talents and capabilities. Maybe it is just the females flashing him when he is playing shows, or maybe it is just the matter of getting crushed by a adolescence girl every day that he goes out into public. Dougie still does not talk much. Although sometimes he appears much more joyful and fidgety, he also has his silent side. He can actually sit through an hour-long interview without speaking a single word.

Dougie is described by his band mates as being quite silly, especially around camera. As seen in the DvDs that McFly has released. Dougie has a complex personality, but he can be open to all of his friends and family. Dougie can be quite stubborn when it comes to jobs, but when it comes to music, Dougie is straight up at for it. Nothing can break Dougie's bond with music, nor his bond with his guitar.[/SIZE][/font]

Born in November 30th, 1987, Douglas Poynter grew up in Corringham, Essex with his mum and a younger sister, Jazzie, who is 3 years younger than him. Being an animal lover, he also lived with two lizards, two cats, two dogs, a hamster and a frog. When he was young, he started breeding reptiles. Dougie also began exploring his musical talents, punk and pop being his favorite genres. He learned how to play the bass guitar, deciding to learn that and play it when he gets in to a band, of which he would soon.

Dougie was enrolled Gable Hall School Arts College in his Corringham, Essex. In 2003, when Dougie was just 15 years old, he auditioned for a new pop band set to be managed on Busted's label. The audition had been made by Tom Fletcher, a song writer for a label, and auditioned for Busted and all most made it. He placed an advert in the weekly and popular music magazine, NME. After meeting up with Danny Jones through an accident audition for a band called 'V' who is very much like Mcfly today, Tom and Danny started both started song writing with each other. but after the auditions for two more members took place, one drummer and one bassist stood out. That bassist turned out to be Dougie, and to add, the drummer was Harry Judd. A male where Dougie has grown a strong friend ship with.

The band decided on the name, McFly, as a used from Marty McFly, the main character in Back to the Future. They had two conflicts, however. The first was Danny Jones was not too happy with the name. This conflict was easily fixed, as they sat him down to watch the movie. One scene featured a vehicle with the name D. Jones Manufacturing on the side, and this convinced him to accept the name. Their second problem was to do with another band with the same name. Because they were not managed and signed, McFly won the right to the name and the other band changed their name to some thing else.

Dougie continues to play in McFly, as the bassist and throat and lungs. Dougie has a Labrador named Flea, which was named after The Red Hot Chili Pepper's bassist, whose name was Flea. All of his lizards have died. His past relationships were with Hannah Tointon, and he dated a female named Keeley when McFly was making Just My Luck. He also dated Louise Sizer last year. Dougie is currently with Frankie Sandford, who is in a band called The Saturdays. Dougie used to have his lip pierced when McFly made the album Wonderland. His nickname at school was Grunger. He used to make his money by breeding lizards and earned himself the nickname of Lizard King at school. Dougie dislikes Daniel Radcliffe and David Gray and is always talking to the media venting his dislike towards them. He has 4 tattoos, a star on each ankle, a space theme all over his chest the word Athletes on his foot. Dougie also writes/co-writes some of McFly's songs, and he fully wrote their song Silence is a Scary Sound.
